Zumani’s lawyers demand amendment to terrorism charges or acquittal of client

Judge Mwenda-Zimba had dismissed the application to have the information containing terrorism charges amended.

The matter has proceeded to trial.

Earlier, lawyers representing former State House special advisor to the President, Chris Zumani Zimba, and three others submitted that the information stating the offences of terrorism against their clients was defective.

Counsel Makebi Zulu, Jonas Zimba, Benjamin Mwelwa and other defence lawyers have asked the Lusaka High court to order the State to amend the information to clearly state the offences, whether it was instigation of acts of terrorism or proliferation.

In the alternative, they wanted the information quashed and the accused persons acquitted.
