ZESCO staff electrocuted on duty

A ZESCO employee was electrocuted while on duty at Chibelo substation in Lusaka.

The deceased who has been identified as Fackson Mbewe was pronounced dead upon arrival at the University Teaching Hospitals in Lusaka.

This is according to the Police Assistant Public Relations Officer Godfrey Chilabi in a statement issued on Wednesday in Lusaka.

“The incident occurred on January 23, 2023 around 21:30 hours.

“Police that its investigations indicate that the deceased was trying to remove tree branches which fell on electrical cables when the incident occurred. The body is in UTH mortuary awaiting postmortem,” Chilabi said.
