ZESCO apologises for extended load-shedding in Lusaka, hopes for normalisation by Monday

ZESCO Limited has advised its Lusaka customers that the normalization process of load management will continue until Monday.

This announcement followed an apology after some parts of Lusaka experienced load shedding extending beyond the 12-hour rationing on Thursday.

In a statement issued in Lusaka on Thursday, ZESCO’s Corporate Affairs department attributed the extended load shedding to an additional power deficit caused by a technical fault at Ndola Energy Company Limited.

“This was caused by an additional power deficit arising from a technical fault at Ndola Energy Company Limited, which lost some generating units on Wednesday, as well as limitations on our imported power where demand outstripped the allocated supply,” the corporation stated.

ZESCO acknowledged that some of its customers were without electrical supply for over 12 hours.

“The extended hours of power rationing have affected all four groups on the load management schedules,” ZESCO mentioned.
