The Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) says it has successfully attained a 77 percent distribution rate of health commodities to various health facilities across the country over the last three months.

According to Bradley Chingobe, ZAMMSA’s Senior Manager for Corporate Communications, the agency shipped 82 out of the 107 scheduled routes in Cycle 2 of 2024, which ran from April to July.

In a statement issued in Lusaka on Friday, Chingobe highlighted that the areas effectively covered during this cycle include Lusaka, Central, Northwestern, Western, Luapula, Northern, Muchinga, Southern and Copperbelt Provinces.

“Important to note is that part of the commodities distributed include Health Center Kits, ARVs and other essential medicines as requested by the facilities,” Chingobe said.

For Cycle 3, Chingobe noted that the Central Warehouse had already commenced the shipping of commodities to the last mile in facilities located in Lusaka and Central Provinces.

This proactive approach, he emphasised, underscored ZAMMSA’s commitment to ensuring a continuous and uninterrupted supply of life-saving commodities to all parts of the country.

“ZAMMSA remains steadfast in our mission to provide equitable access to quality healthcare services through the timely distribution of essential medicines and medical supplies,” Chingobe assured.

He added that the agency continued to work diligently to overcome any obstacles, ensuring that the health and well-being of the Zambian people were prioritized.
