Zambia clinched a thrilling 3-2 victory over Sierra Leone in their Group G clash at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Tuesday, marking their first win since 2024.

The Copper Bullets started strongly, dominating possession and pressing for an early goal.

Their efforts paid off in the 28th minute when Kennedy Musonda headed in a precise cross from Lubambo Musonda to give Zambia the lead.

Sierra Leone responded quickly, equalizing just five minutes later.

Augustus Kargbo capitalised on a defensive lapse by Zambia, converting a well-executed play to level the score.

The first half ended 1-1 after a competitive period of play.

The second half saw a more cautious approach from both teams, leading to fewer clear-cut chances.

In the 70th minute, Kelvin Kampamba, a substitute, restored Zambia’s lead with a spectacular 25-yard shot.

However, Sierra Leone’s Hindolo Mustapha soon equalised again with a composed finish inside the penalty area.

As the match seemed poised to end in a draw, Kings Kangwa delivered a decisive moment.

He curled a brilliant free kick into the net just before the 90th minute, securing Zambia’s hard-fought victory and their return to winning ways.
