A good image of the country in a foreign land portrayed by its nationals has potential to attract investment, boost tourism and encourage trade, according to Zambia’s Transport and Logistics Minister,Frank Tayali.

Tayali encouraged the diplomatic staff in Turkey to continue upholding good values and morals in their execution of duties in line with the country’s national values.

He was speaking when he called on the Embassy of Zambia in Turkey where he addressed Diplomatic staff at the Mission, according to a statement issued on Saturday.

“Countries like Turkey which are fast growing economically are key in Zambia’s development agenda as envisaged by President Hakainde Hichilema.

“Government has embarked on a robust agenda to develop and improve infrastructure in order to transform Zambia,” Tayali said.

He called on the mission to be the tool of engagement that the Government would use in its quest to woo investment and encourage trade between Zambia and Turkey.

Tayali was leading a delegation from the Public Private Partnership Council on a study tour to learn how Turkey has utilised the Public Private Partnership model for infrastructure development in the face of fiscal constraint.

During this tour, the Minister and his entourage interfaced with various stakeholders in their quest to learn and adopt best practices for private sector engagement.

Tayali observed that Turkey was ranked fourth globally among the countries that had successfully used the Public Private Partnership model and that Zambia has a lot to learn from Turkey.

He stated that even with little or no fiscal space in the Treasury to carry out its ambitious programme to transform Zambia, government was eager to explore ways to ensure that it delivers development for the people of Zambia.
