Artistes from across Zambia gathered on Friday for a sold-out tribute concert in Lusaka to honor the late musician, Dandy Krazy.
The event, held at Scream Club, saw the proceeds from ticket sales managed by Dandy Krazy’s family to ensure transparency and accountability.
The highlight of the night was the unexpected appearance of Fumba Chama, Permanent Secretary for Arts in the Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, performing under his stage name, Pilato.
For the first time since his appointment under the UPND government, Chama revived his Pilato persona, performing his hit song Pilato Icashishita, which sent the crowd into a frenzy.
Cheers erupted into chants as the audience joined in singing the familiar lyrics, creating a powerful, nostalgic atmosphere.
Other notable performances came from Copperbelt rap queen Xaven, Y-Celeb, Slap D, Mumba Yachi, Macky 2, B-Flow, and Dizmo, among others.
Mumba Yachi especially captivated the audience with renditions in Dandy Krazy’s signature style, much to their delight.
Slap D used the platform to advocate for celebrating artistes while they are still alive.

“I wish we could do this for artistes while they are still alive. Please, let us honor them before it’s too late,” he said.
Triple M, another performer, expressed his disbelief over Dandy Krazy’s passing despite participating in the celebrations.
“Even if I’m dancing, abakamba balilufyanya sana [the old man did a bad thing to die],” he lamented.
The concert was a moving tribute to Dandy Krazy, celebrating his contributions to Zambian music while highlighting the need to appreciate artistes during their lifetimes.
