Football fans are optimistic about Zambia’s prospects of qualifying to the knockout stages of the COSAFA Cup after recording their first victory at the ongoing tournament being held in South Africa.
Zambia narrowly beat 10-man Comoros 2 goals to 1 to resurrect their chances of defending their COSAFA title at Durban’s King Zwelithini Stadium.

A stunning 51st minute strike from Power Dynamos midfielder Frederick Mulambia and a 73rd minute goal scored by striker Albert Kangwanda was enough to see off a challenge from a resilient Comoros squad.
The Islanders scored a leveller in the 67th minute via an Affane Djambae goal who capitalised on a defensive error but the goal proved to be a consolation for Comoros.
The match was not short of drama with Bakri Youssouf being sent off for a second bookable offence after 77 minutes.
Fans took to social media to express satisfaction with the result.
The fans have renewed hope after the dismal start that saw Zambia lose to neighbours Malawi just three days ago.
However, some fans think there is still room for improvement especially in defence.
“These defenders are bet Kings. Suspicious goals game after game,” wrote a fan who posted on the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) comments section underneath a post announcing the results.
Other supporters believe Zambia should work harder to improve their performances.
Another fan emphasized the importance of Zambia winning their next match.
“Congratulations boys
We need to win the last game to qualify 👏 👏 👏,” wrote a fan identified as Gladys Kunda.
Zambia should beat Seychelles in their next game on Tuesday to guarantee qualification to the next round.
