Zambia weather authorities warn of continued cold, windy conditions through rest of June

The Zambian weather authorities have warned that the current windy and low temperatures being experienced in most parts of the country are expected to continue up until June 28, 2024.

The Zambia Meteorological Department reported that partly cloudy weather conditions, with chances of drizzle or light rain, would cover parts of the Eastern and Muchinga provinces.

According to an alert issued on Sunday, these weather conditions would also affect the Central and Lusaka provinces during the forecast period.

The Department attributed this weather pattern to a strong high-pressure system over the southeast coast of South Africa, inducing a strong and cool airflow over most parts of Zambia.

“This is inducing a strong and cool airflow over most parts of the country.”

Users of water transport and fishers are advised to take precautionary measures to avoid accidents, as winds tend to be stronger on water bodies.

The general public was advised to keep warm due to anticipated low temperatures and avoid open areas.

The Department also warned that dusty conditions could lead to increased cases of flu and other health-related issues.

“Be advised to get authentic weather alerts and updates from the Zambia Meteorological Department, Ministry of Green Economy and Environment,” the Department emphasized.
