Turkish Ambassador to Zambia, Huseyin Barbaros Dicle, has commended the Zambian government for its commitment to improving social protection under President Hakainde Hichilema’s leadership, particularly in addressing the needs of the underprivileged during times of crisis.

Speaking during a courtesy call on Community Development and Social Services Minister, Doreen Mwamba, Dicle praised Zambia’s recent advancements in social welfare, describing them as a testament to the country’s dedication to inclusive development.

He also reaffirmed Turkey’s willingness to collaborate with Zambia on various socio-economic initiatives aimed at uplifting vulnerable communities.

In response, Mwamba acknowledged Turkey’s successful social protection models, particularly in empowering women through transformative skills such as crafts, art, fashion, and design.

She emphasized the importance of adopting similar programmes in Zambia to stimulate domestic investment and drive socio-economic growth.

She further highlighted Zambia’s progress in child development and women empowerment through initiatives such as the Food Security Pack (FSP) and the Social Cash Transfer (SCT) programme.

Both governments reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations to address socio-economic challenges and enhance social protection efforts for national development.
