The Examinations Council of Zambia (ECZ) has launched a digital certificate system for primary school graduation diplomas, aimed at reducing costs and improving efficiency.

Education Minister, Douglas Syakalima, announced in Lusaka on Wednesday that the new e-Certificate system would cut the costs of issuing and producing certificates by K2 million.

“The e-Certificate system will reduce the cost of production and distribution of primary school leaving certificates by about K2 million,” Syakalima said during the launch event.

He added that the ECZ planned to expand the e-Certificate system to cover all examinations administered by the council.

Additionally, Syakalima introduced the Self-Service Portal, which allowed ECZ clients to upload documents, submit applications, and make payments online.

The portal is expected to save time, reduce costs, and minimise the need for travel to access services.

“It will also reduce congestion at the provincial and regional offices,” he noted.
