“The Summit of the Future was convened following a 2021 resolution by the UN General Assembly, aiming to build on the outcomes of the 2023 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Summit,” he explained.

The summit seeks to produce an inter-governmentally negotiated, action-oriented Pact for the Future, focusing on five critical areas: Sustainable Development and Financing for Development, International Peace and Security, Science, Technology and Innovation, Youth and Future Generations, and Global Governance Transformation.

Haimbe stated that Zambia’s participation offerred an opportunity to mobilise resources for sustainable development, advance democratic dividends and contribute to shaping a more inclusive and rights-respecting digital ecosystem both locally and globally.

“The event is significant for Zambia as it provides a platform to close gaps in global governance and foster strategic partnerships for the attainment of SDGs,” he added.
