Zambia Army officers and soldiers have undergone medical pre-deployment training and civil affairs women peace and security training.

The 3-week training which took place at the Kenneth Kaunda Peace Training Centre (KKPTC) was conducted by the British Peace Support Team Africa and American Civil Affairs Battalion Africa.

The civil affairs component covered organisational, civil engagement and women, peace, and security.

The services on offer included among others, the treatment of wounds, the application of various first aid accessories, and life-saving skills, says KKPTC Commandant, Telekanko Banda after the training on Wednesday.

Banda said the Zambia Army officers and soldiers undertook the test of activities given to them and their levels of assimilation were unprecedented.

He expressed delight that the courses were successfully delivered.

Banda commended the participants for the togetherness and coordination exhibited, also urging them to ensure all programmes being offered by the college are assimilated in totality.

“The British Peace Support Team (BPST) Africa through Captain Jemma Barnes deserves a pat on its back for a meticulously delivered training package which he added will go a long way in shaping survival skills.

“I am very optimistic that the locally-attached personnel acquired the needed skill, assuring the participants that the knowledge and skills acquired shall be handy once deployed in mission areas,” he said.

The Commandant also paid special tribute to the Director Civil-Military Coordination (CIMIC), Colonel Cynthia Chimpusa, who he said played a pivotal role in coordinating the programme on the Zambian side.
