The Zambian government has confirmed its readiness to launch the new school curriculum on Monday, February 10, 2025, for early childhood education, Grade 1, and Form 1 students.
Ministry of Education Permanent Secretary, Joel Kamoko, assured the nation that the orientation of teachers had been successful, and the distribution of materials was proceeding on schedule.
Kamoko made the statement on Monday in Lusaka, ahead of the February 10 resumption of classes.
He emphasized that the Ministry had everything under control as it prepared for the implementation of the new curriculum.
“We are ready to implement the new curriculum, and we assure the nation that the orientation of teachers is on course and has been successful so far,” Kamoko said.
He noted that the piloting of the new curriculum had been carried out according to the prescribed procedures, and the Ministry was satisfied with the results.
This successful pilot phase paved the way for the full-scale implementation.
Meanwhile, Zambia Education Publishing House (ZEPH) Managing Director, Dr. Agnes Wilkins, confirmed that her organization was working tirelessly to ensure all necessary materials for the new curriculum would be printed and distributed on time.
“We are confident that all required materials will be delivered before February 10, 2025,” Wilkins said.
