The Zambia Police Service has cautioned political party leaders and stakeholders against involving the country’s Defence and Security agencies in political discourse.

In a statement issued Tuesday, Police Spokesperson, Rae Hamoonga, urged leaders to avoid statements that could incite unlawful activities or undermine national security.

“While the Constitution guarantees freedom of expression, this right must be exercised within the confines of the law.

“Any attempts to incite unlawful activities or make statements that undermine national security and public order will not be tolerated,” Hamoonga warned.

He called on all citizens, particularly political leaders, to act responsibly and refrain from making remarks that could mislead the public, cause panic, or threaten national stability.

“The Zambia Police Service remains committed to upholding the rule of law and will take appropriate action against individuals or groups found violating it,” he added.
