The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested and charged Kasemuka Chiteta, a Senior Accountant based at Police Headquarters in Lusaka.
Timothy Moono, the ACC Head of Corporate Communications, said Chiteta had been arrested together with a Lusaka based businessman, Chimuka Chibawe, for concealment of property suspected of being proceeds of crime.
Moono said this in a statement issued in Lusaka on Thursday.
He stated that Chiteta, 48, of plot No. 2064 Lilayi in Kafue District, had been charged with one (1) count of Possession of Property Suspected of Being Proceeds of Crime.
“This is contrary to Section 71 (1) of the Forfeiture of Proceeds of Crime Act No. 19 of 2010 of the Laws of Zambia,” Moono said.
He said details of the offence are that, Chiteta on dates unknown but between April, 7, 2023 and February, 12, 2024 in Lusaka District, concealed a Toyota Landcruiser BAD4360 registered under the ownership of Chibawe, a Lusaka based businessman.
Moono added that the Commission arrested and charged a Lusaka based businessman, Chibawe of plot No. 136 C Kalomo road Chilenje.
“Chibawe has been charged with one (1) count of Possession of Property Suspected of Being Proceeds of Crime contrary to Section 71 (1) of the Forfeiture of Proceeds of Crime Act No. 19 of 2010,” he stated.
Moono said Chibawe on dates unknown but between April, 7, 2023 and February, 12, 2024 in Lusaka, concealed a motor vehicle namely Toyota Landcruiser BAD4360 registered under his names when the beneficial owner was Chiteta.
He stated that the duo had since been released on bond and would appear in court soon.
