On September 12, 2024, at approximately 13:00 hours, Lusaka Police apprehended four Zimbabwean nationals suspected of a series of motor vehicle thefts.
The operation, conducted by Woodlands Police Station, resulted in the arrest of Prince Dube (32), George Chuma (49), Fortune Maswabi (43) and Mudududzi Moyo (40).
Police Spokesperson, Rae Hamoonga, reported that the suspects were caught in a grey Toyota Mark X with registration number BCE 5455.
A search of the vehicle revealed a set of number plates with registration number CAE 3495, which matched those on the vehicle’s road tax disc, a drilling machine, a riveting machine, three double-sided tapes, and rivets.
The suspects are believed to be involved in recent thefts from vehicles at shopping malls in Woodlands, Kabulonga, and other Lusaka areas.
CCTV footage reviewed from various crime scenes confirmed that the suspects match individuals depicted in these recordings.

Hamoonga detailed several incidents linked to the suspects:
July 25, 2024: At Puma Filling Station, Long Acres, ZAF officer Kelvin Phiri reported the theft of K305,000 from his Toyota Allion (registration BCG 4532). The suspects were seen driving a white Toyota Mark X.
June 1, 2024: At Lewanika Mall traffic lights, Christopher Chitambala reported K130,621 stolen from his Toyota Hilux. The suspects were driving a white Toyota Mark X (registration BLA 3440).
August 23, 2024: At Kings Highway, SDA New Kasama, Joseph Ngosa reported K50,000 stolen from his Mercedes Benz (registration BAH 2122). The suspects were again seen driving a white Toyota Mark X.
Hamoonga assured the public that the Zambia Police Service was dedicated to ensuring safety and urged residents to report any suspicious activities.
