The Zambia Institute of Marketing (ZIM) has expressed concern about the presence of unqualified individuals posing as marketers in the country.
Eric Ngondo, ZIM Vice President for Policy, announced that inspectors would be deployed nationwide to ensure that only affiliated marketers are employed in marketing roles.
Speaking at a media briefing in Lusaka on Wednesday, Ngondo urged ZIM members to report instances of unqualified individuals in the profession.
Ngondo reported that inspections in Lusaka and the Copperbelt have produced positive results.
“We would equally like to remind organizations that if they employ non-affiliated marketers, they too will be held liable,” he said.
He emphasized that job adverts for marketing positions must specify that candidates should be members of the Institute, as required by law.

Ngondo warned that failing to include this requirement promotes lawlessness and could lead to legal consequences.
“As stated in the Institute’s mandate, all marketing roles and related professions, as defined in the ZIM Act No. 2 of 2022, are regulated by ZIM,” he reiterated.
Ngondo highlighted that the ZIM Act No. 2 of 2022 aims to elevate the marketing profession in Zambia by ensuring it operates within a structured, ethical, and professional framework.
This, he said, was crucial for enhancing the credibility and effectiveness of marketing practices in the country.
