Zambia has endorsed the Amman-Berlin Declaration on Disability Inclusion, reaffirming its commitment to amplifying the voices of persons with disabilities in national development.

The declaration urges nations to ensure that 15 percent of all international development programs actively promote disability inclusion.

Zambia’s endorsement was made at the 3rd Global Disability Summit (GDS) in Berlin, Germany, where the country is represented by Ambassador Winnie Chibesakunda and Ministry of Community Development and Social Services Director for Social Welfare, Nelson Nyangu.

“Zambia has presented its national position on the progressive strides made towards disability inclusion,” Chibesakunda said.

The country also submitted its 2025 commitments on disability inclusion, aimed at ensuring that persons with disabilities lead dignified and inclusive lives.

Additionally, Zambia’s delegation participated in a high-level meeting of the Global Disability Fund, discussing ways to ensure that development initiatives directly benefit persons with disabilities while strengthening their participation in decision-making.

Chibesakunda emphasized Zambia’s dedication to fostering an inclusive society, where the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities are protected at all levels of national development.
