Zambia drawn in tough AFCON group with hosts Morocco, Mali, Comoros

Zambia’s Chipolopolo face a tough challenge in Group A of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), drawn alongside hosts Morocco, Mali, and Comoros.

The draw, conducted in Rabat on Monday evening, sets up a daunting test for Coach Avram Grant’s side, who will once again clash with Morocco, their rivals from the last AFCON and the ongoing FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Zambia will also need to overcome the Eagles of Mali, a consistent powerhouse in African football, and Comoros, a team known for upsetting the odds.

The tournament will take place in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.

3. Group D: Senegal, DR Congo, Benin, Botswana
