The Zambian government has pledged its commitment to strengthening its partnership with the Czech Republic, particularly in areas such as mineral beneficiation, agriculture, sustainable development, and international cooperation.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Permanent Secretary for International Relations and Cooperation, Etambuyu Gundersen, emphasized the need for both nations to deepen economic cooperation through increased business linkages and trade partnerships.
Gundersen said this in Lusaka at Charter House on Tuesday when she received Karolina Sequevsova, Director-General for Non-European Countries, Economic and Development Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of The Czech Republic.
She highlighted the need for cooperation in Zambia’s mining sector to enhance Zambia’s technical capacity for resource exploration, to contribute to the country’s broader vision for mining sector growth.
“Zambia is committed to working with the Czech Republic on the Sustainable Landscape through Integrated Management project, a key initiative aimed at enhancing land use and resource management while promoting environmental sustainability for local communities,” Gundersen said.
She stated that implemented by the Czech Development Agency in Zambia, the project would run from October 2023 to 2027, reflecting Zambia’s dedication to long-term collaboration in sustainable development.
“The Czech Republic is enjoying warm bilateral relations with Zambia, and will continue to ensure that it supports Zambia’s economic sectors such as Agriculture and Energy sectors,” Sequevsova said.
