The Zambia Forestry and Forest Industries Corporation PLC (ZAFFICO) has allocated 500 hectares of pine plantations in Mufulira and Ndola for a 12-month pilot resin tapping project.
According to ZAFFICO’s Head of Corporate Affairs and Marketing, Ireen Chipili, the project is a collaboration with Copperbelt University (CBU) and Fenglian International Carbon Asset Operation Corporation Limited from the Jiangxi Multi-Facility Economic Zone in Chibombo.
Chipili explained that pine tree resin was widely used in construction as adhesives, coatings and bonding agents and also in medical applications and food glazing.

This initiative highlights ZAFFICO’s strategic focus on diversification and value addition to enhance the benefits from its plantations.
Currently, ZAFFICO manages 62,183 hectares of pine and eucalyptus plantations across the Copperbelt, Luapula, Muchinga, Northern and North-Western Provinces of Zambia.
