A 23-year-old Yango driver and three passengers have been allegedly attacked by a group of eight suspected criminals in Lusaka’s Kamwala South area.
According to Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, Danny Mwale, the incident occurred as the driver was dropping off his three clients along Esther Lungu Road.
In a statement issued in Lusaka on Sunday, Mwale said investigations revealed that the suspects, armed with machetes, emerged from the railway line opposite Kuku compound.

“The driver and one of the passengers, aged 31, were hacked with machetes before being robbed of their money and cellular phones,” Mwale stated.
The driver sustained a deep cut on his face, while the passenger suffered cuts on his right leg, hands and bruises on his body.
“The other two passengers managed to escape without injuries, although their phones were reported stolen,” he added.
Mwale mentioned that police officers rushed the victims to the hospital, where they are receiving treatment.
“Their condition is said to be stable,” he said.
The exact amount of money and value of the stolen items have yet to be determined as investigations continue.
“A manhunt has been launched for the suspects,” Mwale stated.
