Police in Lusaka have apprehended 15 individuals, including Copperbelt-based musician Y-Celeb, for conduct likely to cause a breach of peace during a funeral procession.
Police Spokesperson, Rae Hamoonga, confirmed in a statement on Monday evening that Y-Celeb, whose real name is Webster Chikabala, aged 28, of Chimwemwe, Kitwe, and others were involved in disruptive behaviour along Church Road.
The arrest followed a report received by Lusaka Central Police Station at 13:00 hours on January 6, 2025, regarding a group causing public disorder.
“At approximately 12:30 hours, officers observed over 30 individuals running along Church Road, making loud noise and blocking motorists and other road users. Upon intervention, 15 suspects were apprehended,” Hamoonga stated.
The suspects included a mix of individuals from Lusaka and Kitwe, ranging in age from 13 to 30 years, with some identified as juveniles. Among them were Savior Musonda, aged 24, of no fixed abode in Lusaka, and Titus Kaimbo, aged 29, of Zingalume, Lusaka.

Investigations revealed the group was heading to the burial of the late musician Wesley Chibambo, popularly known as Dandy Crazy, who was laid to rest on Monday.
Following their admission of guilt, the suspects were fined and subsequently released after paying the prescribed fines.
“The Zambia Police Service reiterates its commitment to ensuring peace and order in the country,” Hamoonga stated, urging the public to avoid activities that disrupt public order or inconvenience others.
He warned that any violations of the law would be met with appropriate action.
