Workcom Pension Trust files for bankruptcy proceedings against former Minister Mabumba

Workcom Pension Trust Registered Trustees have filed a notice to commence bankruptcy proceedings against former Education Minister, David Mabumba, for allegedly failing to pay over K160,000 as ordered by the court.

The notice, filed at the Lusaka High Court, revealed that Mabumba, who served as a cabinet minister in the previous Edgar Lungu government, had not settled the judgment debt as ordered by the High Court on January 21, 2024.

Workcom Pension Trust Registered Trustees stated that they would initiate bankruptcy proceedings against Mabumba after the 14-day expiration of the filed notice.

“For failure to satisfy the judgement of the court dated Jan 21, wherein the said Petitioner was awarded K72,996 plus interest in the sum of K42,797.77 and Costs thereon of which K115,794.97 plus interest and K60,000 costs still remain unpaid,” stated the notice.
