Police in Lusaka have apprehended a woman accused of collecting K102,400 from 16 individuals by promising them employment in the Zambia Army and Zambia National Service (ZNS).
Police Public Relations Officer, Rae Hamoonga, identified the suspect as Selina Moyo, 25, of house number 80/24 in Soweto compound, Zingalume, Lusaka.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Hamoonga stated that the alleged fraudulent activities occurred between February 2024 and July 2024 in the Zingalume compound.

“Moyo initially deceived her own mother by claiming that someone at ZNS had promised her employment in exchange for K25,000, which her mother provided,” Hamoonga said.
He added that Moyo then demanded an additional K20,000 from her mother, promising to secure employment for her younger brothers in the Zambia Army.
“Moyo went as far as to produce fake employment contracts purported to be from the Zambia Army, which her mother and other complainants were made to sign,” he noted.
The suspect has been detained and is expected to appear in court soon.
