Vlogger Mwewa alleges Patriotic Front party threats over remarks on late Dandy Krazy

As Zambia mourns the late musician Dandy Crazy, vlogger, Simon Mwewa, has alleged threats to his safety, accusing the opposition Patriotic Front (PF) of plotting to attack him should he attend the funeral.

Mwewa faced public backlash earlier this week over comments about Dandy Crazy, where he criticized the late artiste’s living conditions, claiming he lived in an unfinished house despite his past ties with the PF government.

In a live video streamed on Saturday, Mwewa said he believed PF members might “pounce” on him during the funeral, citing his controversial remarks about Zambian artists.

He had previously referred to some musicians as “drunkards,” a statement he defended in the video.

“My comments bruised a lot of people, and unfortunately, they’ve been politicized. Some PF members see this as an opportunity to target me because they consider me anti-PF,” Mwewa said.

He added that while he described Dandy Crazy as “jovial and one of the most comical people” he had ever met, his broader critique of Zambia’s music industry was misunderstood.

“I have no regrets about what I said. Zambians don’t like hearing the truth, especially about our artistes. My remarks were never specifically about Dandy Crazy but rather about larger issues in the industry,” Mwewa clarified.

Citing safety concerns, the vlogger said he would not attend the funeral, stating: “I would never go to a place where I’m not welcome. At 55, I’m wise enough to avoid unnecessary confrontation.”
