The United Prosperous and Peaceful Zambia (UPPZ) has urged the United Party for National Development (UPND) government to shift its focus from donor aid to leveraging the country’s own resources.

UPPZ leader, Charles Chanda, said that Zambia should not depend on external support given its vast natural resources.

In a statement issued in Lusaka on Friday, Chanda expressed concerns over the management of public funds under President Hakainde Hichilema’s administration.

This followed a Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) report alleging that over K13 billion was linked to suspicious financial transactions.

“It appears that public money is slipping into private hands, while authorities seem complacent. This unacceptable oversight must end,” Chanda stated.

He called on the government to prioritise recovering the alleged misplaced funds and to align its policies to better serve the Zambian people.

Chanda also encouraged citizens to demand greater transparency and responsible leadership.

“We deserve a government that invests in our nation’s potential rather than relying on handouts,” he concluded
