UPND National Youth chairperson, Liswaniso, says party mobilizing, results to show in 2026

The United Party for National Development (UPND) has embarked on mobilisation of more members.

UPND National Youth Chairperson, Gilbert Liswaniso, said the party was conducting mobilisation and that the results of the work would be seen as 2026 approaches.

“This is because most political giants would be flocking to join the party,” Liswaniso said in a telephone interview on Friday.

Liswaniso said people who were saying that UPND was a one term party would be shocked as the party would rule Zambia more than the time they spent in the opposition.

“We will rule this country for more than 23 years, let the people join whatever political party they find attractive now, but that doesn’t not mean UPND is not attractive,” he said.

He said the party was stronger than never before because now people were able to see the policies that government was implementing under the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema.

Meanwhile, Liswaniso said there was nothing wrong with the party secretary general, Batuke Imenda going round the country to inspect Constituency Development Fund (CDF) projects.

He said UPND was a ruling part and government was currently implementing the manifesto of the party as such there was no harm if the party chief Executive Officer monitors how their manifesto was being implemented.

“There are some people in the constituencies who were sabotaging government efforts in the implementation of CDF and what Imenda did was to sure that vice was correct.

“People were sabotaging the implementation of CDF to make UPND unpopular so that the party should not return power in 2026,” he said.
