Unidentified man fatally injured by goods train near Kabanana, Lusaka

An unidentified man, aged between 20 and 25, has died after sustaining fatal injuries when he was hit by a goods train moving from Lusaka to the Copperbelt Province.

The incident occurred on July 10, 2024, near the Kabanana Site and Service area, according to Police Deputy Public Relations Officer Danny Mwale.

In a statement issued in Lusaka on Thursday, Mwale said police, along with officers from Zambia Railways, responded to the scene where they found the victim wearing headphones, lying in a pool of blood.

“He sustained deep cuts on his face and had his feet severed,” Mwale stated.

He mentioned that the victim was rushed to the University Teaching Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

“The body is currently in the Hospital Mortuary awaiting formal identification and post-mortem,” he added.
