Two women appear in court for cocaine trafficking

Two women of Lusaka’s Lilayi area have appeared at the Lusaka magistrate court for trafficking in 150grams of Cocaine.

When the matter came up for commencement of plea on Friday before chief resident magistrate Davies Chibwili, Mercy Chiwala, 31, and Martha Chilumba,32, both business women denied the charge.

The two are facing one count of drug trafficking and one count of Unlawful use of property contrary to the laws of Zambia.

It is alleged that Chiwala and Chilumba on April 1, 2023 jointly and whilst acting together did traffic in 150g of cocaine with no lawful authority.

In count two, it is alleged that on April 1, 2023, jointly and whilst acting together did use a motor vehicle namely Toyota Vits to carry or conceive drugs.

The court entered pleas of not guilty on both counts and adjourned the matter to April 21, 2023 for commencement of trial.

Meanwhile, two men have found themselves in hot soup after stealing 73 cobs of Maize from Azeeb Farms altogether valued at K730.00.

Lubinda Muyambango and Nawa Kahonye are charged with one count of theft Contrary to Section 272 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

It is alleged that Muyambango and Kahonye on March 26, 2023 in Lusaka jointly and whilst acting together stole 73 cobs of Maize altogether valued at K730-00 the property of Azeeb farms.
