Police in Lusaka have apprehended two people out of four suspects for sexually assuating a five-year-old girl of Mtendere East.
The arrest of the two suspects followed the launch of investigation into a case of unnatural offences involving the juvenile who was allegedly sexually assaulted against the order of nature by the four male suspects in Mtendere East.
The incident is alleged to have occurred on March 11, 2025 between 17:00 hours and 21:00 hours in Mtendere East, according to a statement issued in Lusaka on Firday by Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga.
The report was received on March 19, 2025 at 16:00 hours from a concerned relative of Mtendere East, who reported on behalf of her niece, aged 5.
Preliminary police investigations indicate that on the fateful day, the victim was playing with her friends when she was left alone by the roadside.
“It is alleged that William Phiri, aged 21, and Lawrence Phiri, 19, forcefully took her into an unfinished house, where they were later joined by Victor Muntita and an unidentified accomplice,” Hamoonga said.
He stated that the assailants allegedly covered the victim’s face with masks and took turns sodomizing her before threatening to slit her throat with a razor blade if she revealed the ordeal.

Hamoonga said the victim sustained injuries to the anal region and was receiving medical attention.
“We assure the public that all necessary measures are being taken to bring the perpetrators to justice,” he said.
Hamoonga urged members of the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
He assured that child protection remained a priority, and that the Police would not relent in ensuring that those who prey on innocent children face the full wrath of the law.
