Tragic road crash claims four lives, leaves musician Dandy Krazy injured

A tragic road traffic accident has claimed the lives of four individuals, leaving musician Wesely Chibambo, populary known as Dandy Krazy with injuries.

Chibambo, who was a passenger in the Toyota Allex sustained serious injuries and was admitted at Kabwe Central Hospital and later evacuated to University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka.

Central Province Police Commissioner Charity Munganga in a statement issued in Lusaka, said the accident occurred on December, 31, 2024, around 19:10 hours, at Green Leaf area, approximately 25 kilometers south of Kapiri Mposhi along the Great North Road.

Munganga said the accident involved three motor vehicles namely, a Shackman truck bearing registration number ADF 1575, trailer T ADF 1576, driven by Kachalwa Lweendo, aged 28, traveling from Kapiri to Kabwe direction with one passenger on board.

She said the other one was a Toyota Allex with registration number ADD 5673, carrying three passengers and a Nissan Hardbody with registration number ABJ 6469, driven by a lone occupant.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that the accident occurred when the driver of the Shackman truck lost control of the vehicle due to excessive speed,” Munganga stated.

She added that this resulted in the truck colliding with the Toyota Allex and the Nissan Hardbody, which were traveling in the opposite direction.

“Regrettably, the following casualties have been recorded, the driver of the Toyota Allex and two passengers died on the spot and the driver of the Nissan Hardbody also died on the spot,” Munganga said.

She stated that the bodies of the deceased, who were yet to be identified, had been deposited at Kapiri Mposhi Urban Clinic mortuary.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Shackman truck and his passenger escaped unhurt. However, the driver fled the scene after providing his details to law enforcement officers.

“A manhunt has since been launched to apprehend him so that he can face the full force of the law,” Munganga said.

She urged all motorists to adhere to traffic rules and regulations to prevent such tragic occurrences.
