The Patriotic Front (PF) on the Copperbelt has urged Zambians, particularly members of the Tonse Alliance, to prepare for heightened propaganda from the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) as the 2026 elections drew closer.
Kangwa Puta, the Copperbelt PF Mobilisation Secretary and Ndola District Treasurer, claimed that the UPND was in a state of panic and desperation, employing all means to secure victory in next year’s polls.
Speaking in a telephone interview with Zambia Monitor on Tuesday, Puta emphasized the need for Tonse Alliance leaders to set aside personal interests and focus on building a strong opposition capable of unseating the UPND.
She labeled the Alliance under former President Edgar Lungu as the only hope for Zambians, who he said were struggling to afford essentials like mealie meal.
“The UPND has been a rhetoric government, surviving on propaganda and dictatorial tendencies. As we enter 2025, they will intensify their propaganda and continue using law enforcement agencies as tools to suppress the opposition,” Puta said.
She further urged Zambians and opposition leaders to remain vigilant and united in their efforts to “liberate the country from poverty, hunger, hatred, dictatorship, and corruption.”
