Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotions (OQBP) has reportedly signed four promising boxers who are tipped to become the next big names in Zambian and international boxing.

The new signees include Chanda Kasonka in the Lightweight category, and three female boxers—Mary Mhango (Super Bantamweight), Gracious Malembeka (Bantamweight), and Charity Phiri (Light Flyweight).

OQBP Promoter and Manager, Christopher Malunga, confirmed the signings in a statement issued in Lusaka on Tuesday.

Malunga described the athletes as the future of Zambian boxing and said they would be placed on a special development program to refine their skills, increase exposure, and position them as world-class contenders.

“As part of this initiative, all four boxers will debut on the international stage during the undercard of the much-anticipated World Boxing Council (WBC) Championship bout,” Malunga said.

He added that the headline bout will feature Zambia’s David “Sniper” Mwale facing Ghana’s Michael Decardi Nelson on May 24, 2025, at the Government Complex in Lusaka.

Malunga emphasized that the event would mark a significant milestone for Zambian boxing and called on fans, media, and stakeholders to support the young talent.

“We call upon all boxing fans, media, and stakeholders to rally behind these promising athletes as they begin their journey to greatness under the Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotions banner,” he said.
