Three dead bodies found in maize field in Chipokolo Village, Kasisi

Chelston Police Station has recorded three dead bodies of unidentified individuals at a farm in Chipokolo village suspected to have been murdered.

Police Public Relations Officer, Rae Hamoonga, said on February 18, 2024 that the Chelston police station received a report of murder from Isaiah Lweela, 47, of Chipokolo Village in Mponda Chiefdom near Kasisi Mine.

In statement issued on Monday, Hamoonga narrated that Lweela had discovered three unidentified dead bodies, two for females and one for a male all in a decomposed state.

“The bodies were found in different places but not very far from each other. This occurred on February 18, 2024 at around 1500 hours at a farm in Chipokolo village,” Hamoonga indicated.

He explained that on February 18, 2024, Lweela was going to his farm to check on his maize field when he smelt a bad odour and saw a lot of flies nearby.

“He decided to check what was there only to find a dead body of a person,” he added.

Hamoonga explained that upon discovery, Lweela immediately rushed back to the village and informed people who went to the scene in large numbers and later on discovered two more dead bodies and decided to report the matter to Police.

“The Scene of Crime was visited by police scenes of crime officers and the bodies were three; (two for females aged between 22 and 25 and one of a male person aged between 30 and 35,” Hamoonga said.

Hamoonga also revealed that a male body was found in the field with a deep cut on the head, clothed in a blue jean trousers and that white sneakers were recovered about 30 meters away from the body.

He further stated that 500 meters from the first body was another body of a female person with a similar cut on the right side of the neck.

“The third body of a female was discovered 80 meters from the second body with a deep cut on the head,” Hamoonga said.

He, however, stressed that the axe suspected to have been used was recovered along with a yellow sweat shirt, white trousers, blue T-shirt, blue wrapper, a blue short and pink slippers which were found and picked 30 meters from the third body.

“Everything has been secured as exhibits. All the bodies had postmortem conducted today (Monday) and burial is scheduled to take place today (Monday). None of the bodies has been identified and investigations are underway,” Hamoonga said.
