Police in Lusaka have arrested three of six suspected criminals who allegedly attacked a 28-year-old man in Mutumbi Cemetery on Wednesday.
According to Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, Danny Mwale, six suspects armed with machetes and other offensive weapons attacked a man from the Obama area in Lusaka, robbing him of K10,500 and a cellphone.
In a statement issued in Lusaka on Thursday, Mwale said police investigations revealed that the victim was attacked while walking through the cemetery to the Obama area.
“Police officers were alerted and immediately investigations were instituted, leading to the arrest of the three suspects around 16:00 hours,” he stated.

Mwale added that three other suspects managed to escape.
“One machete, believed to have been one of the offensive weapons used in the act, was recovered,” he mentioned.
Mwale said the condition of the victim was stable.
“A manhunt for the other suspects, believed to have escaped with the money and a cellphone, has been launched,” he pointed out.
