ZESCO spokesperson, Matongo Maumbi, said the outage was due to a fault on the power line linked to the university.
Maumbi noted that the university’s generator had activated within 12 seconds before power was restored.
“In this instance, the standby generator at the university automatically activated and restored power within 12 seconds,” he mentioned.
He stated that ZESCO was able to address the fault within 2 minutes of the interruption.
“ZESCO further moved in to resolve the fault on the line within 2 minutes of its occurrence,” Maumbi said.
He said the corporation extended its apologies to the President and all customers that were impacted by the unexpected power supply interruption.
“ZESCO treats all State functions with the highest priority and always ensures backup power is in place,” Maumbi stated.
