Tennis great, Nadal, serves notice of retirement after Laver Cup tournament

Tennis player, Rafael Nadal, has affirmed his plans to retire from professional tennis after the 2024 Laver Cup season which starts on September 20 to September 22 in Berlin.

Nadal, who recently returned to competition after a lengthy hiatus at the Barcelona Open last week, had been grappling with injuries over the past two years.

As reported by a United Kingdom media outlet, the 37-year-old Nadal expressed his anticipation of retiring after the 2024 season.

“I have some really special memories from my Laver Cup experiences, including all the emotions from London two years ago playing alongside Roger for the last time,” Nadal said in a statement.

In his statement, the Spaniard appeared resolute in his decision to retire.

“At this stage in my career I really want to go out there and make the most of every opportunity I am given,” he added.
