Science and Technology Minister, Felix Mutati, has urged the business community to embrace Artificial Intelligence (AI), stating its role in driving efficiency and convenience.
Speaking on Monday in Lusaka at MTN Zambia’s 20th anniversary celebration, Mutati said AI adoption was no longer optional but essential for business growth.
“Colleagues, AI is no longer an option; it is going to transform you whether you like it or not. That is why, as government, we launched the AI strategy—because we believe in the efficiency and convenience enabled by AI. Without a doubt, AI is the future,” he said.
Mutati also encouraged the telco to play a role in delivering government services such as the Social Cash Transfer (SCT) programme.
“All the good things you are doing should extend to supporting government services. We want you to assist in delivering digital legal services, Social Cash Transfers, and other key programmes without glitches,” he added.
He also commended them for their contribution to financial inclusion through mobile money services, such as MoMo.
MTN Zambia Chief Executive Officer, Abbad Reda, underscored the importance of connectivity in today’s world, saying it links communities to endless opportunities.
“Our core belief remains that every person deserves to enjoy the benefits of a modern, connected life. While we have achieved so much over the past 20 years, there is still much more we are eager to accomplish,” Reda said.
