Access to digital tools will empower individuals and communities while enabling them to overcome barriers, and bridge socio-economic gaps.

This will then help transform Zambia’s economy and overall national development, says Technology and Science Minister Felix Mutati.

He said this when he paid a courtesy call on Zambia’s Acting High Commissioner to South Africa, Inonge Mwenya on Friday noting that digital transformation played an important role in addressing society challenges and promoted. inclusivity.

“Digital transformation will promote knowledge exchange, trade partnerships, and diplomatic relations, thereby strengthening international ties and fostering mutual understanding among nations.

“By harnessing the power of technology, Governments can enhance public service delivery, healthcare systems, and educational opportunities, particularly in underserved areas,” Mutati said.

He observed that innovative ways to finance digital transformation would help boost the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector and contribute to national development.

The Minister observed that it was important to achieve enhanced knowledge, experience, and sharing the vision of digital transformation, and service delivery.

“Digital transformation enhances efficiency and productivity in both public and private sectors, by leveraging advanced technologies and digital tools.

“Once this is achieved, it will help improved cost-effectiveness, faster decision-making where decisions will be arrived at quickly, and that this would in turn lead to enhanced service delivery, ultimately fostering economic growth and competitiveness,” Mutati stated.

He pointed out that government was, therefore, targeting the digital transformation agenda as it would bring in incentives, investments, jobs, innovation to the country, and the benefits.

This, he said, had its impact on various domains from economic growth, and global connectivity to inclusivity, innovation, and good governance.

In response, Mwenya expressed happiness that the minister paid a courtesy call at the High Commission to share various issues on what the government was doing to achieve and embrace digital transformation in Zambia.

“This will unlock new opportunities as it will enable players to gather more information and be innovative,” she said.
