Technology and Science Minister, Felix Mutati, has urged mobile service providers to ensure consistent and reliable services despite the challenges in the telecommunications industry.
Speaking at the Fibrecom networking dinner on Thursday in Lusaka, Mutati stated the government’s commitment to maintaining service availability at around 95 percent across Zambia.
“The quality of service delivery this year has been poor, but we expect providers to keep services running without disruption, regardless of the difficulties they face,” Mutati said.
He reassured the public that the government was working diligently to address these issues, highlighting that Zambia had attracted investments worth K1 billion in the energy sector this year to support technological and infrastructural growth.
Fibrecom Chief Executive Officer, Nan’galelwa Sitwala, highlighted the company’s strides in digital transformation, including plans to deploy Artificial Intelligence (AI) and advanced technologies to enhance its infrastructure.
“We are committed to bridging the digital divide and creating a more connected Zambia and Africa at large through innovative solutions and partnerships,” Sitwala said.
