Former Lusaka Province Minister, Bowman Lusambo, has called on President Hakainde Hichilema to take decisive action against corruption, including firing and prosecuting corrupt officials.
Lusambo urged the President to stop wasting time by transferring ministers who were failing in their duties and instead dismiss them without hesitation.
The ex-Kabushi Constituency lawmaker broke his silence on various issues affecting the country during a media briefing at his residence in Lusaka on Wednesday.
He criticized what he termed the political persecution of the opposition, stating it was destructive to their families.
“We are ready to help him fight corruption. Some of us have served in government and understand how the vice can be fought. That’s why we have the Anti-Corruption Commission, the Police and other security agencies,” Lusambo said.
Lusambo called for accountability and transparency in government and for a commitment to justice and fairness instead of political persecution.
He urged the President to take bold action against corruption and prioritise the well-being of Zambian citizens instead of transferring non-performing ministers.

Lusambo recounted how ex-president Edgar Lungu fired ministers like Chishimba Kambwili, Chitalu Chilufya, Moses Mawere, Emerine Kabanshi and Felix Mutati to ensure that Zambians received the good stewardship they deserved.
“President Edgar Lungu ensured that he fired members of his cabinet who were caught up in any corruption-related issues or even failed to run their ministries,” he said.
Lusambo added that the President should have fired Minister of Lands, Sylvia Masebo, instead of transferring her from one ministry to another.
