Spur Centre, Kitwe, gutted by fire

A major fire has broken out at the Spur Centre in Kitwe, destroying goods worth thousands of Kwacha as business owners struggle to save their merchandise.

Witnesses report that the fire started around 19:00 in one shop before spreading to others, with shop owners attempting to contain the blaze using buckets of water.

The Spur Centre houses a variety of shops, including electronics, clothing stores, and repair services.

“We called the fire department, but they have yet to arrive, so we’re trying to put it out ourselves with whatever we have,” one witness said.
