Socialite Mutale Mwanza, popularly known as M-Nation, has been arrested in connection with an alleged case of harassment through electronic communication.
The arrest followed a formal complaint lodged by fellow socialite Daisy Lufumpa, known as DJ Chichi-Daisy, who accused Mwanza of posting defamatory and insulting remarks about her on Facebook.
Police Spokesperson, Rae Hamoonga, confirmed that Mwanza, aged 37, was arrested on November 20, 2024, after an investigation into the allegations, which violated Section 69 of the Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes Act No. 2 of 2021.
According to the police, DJ Chichi-Daisy reported that on November 8, 2024, Mwanza posted content on her Facebook page that falsely implicated her in illicit activities and included other defamatory statements.
“Upon receiving the report, the Police initiated an inquiry and investigation, which led to the apprehension of Mutale Mwanza, a resident of Ibex Hill, Lusaka, on November 20, 2024,” Hamoonga said in a statement issued on Thursday.
Following her arrest, Mwanza was interviewed, warned, cautioned, and later charged for harassment utilizing electronic communication.
She was detained before being granted police bond.
She is expected to appear before the court soon.
