Football fans have taken to social media to express their displeasure following a dismal performance that resulted in Zambia’s 1-nil loss to Malawi at the COSAFA Cup.

Malawi scored via an Aaron Katebe own goal on the 15th minute mark in the match played at King Zwelithini Stadium south-west of Durban, South Africa.

Many fans vented on the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) official Facebook page when a post announcing the final score was made.

The Six time champions who are the current holders of the title will be hoping for a better result when Zambia play their next game against Comoros on Sunday.

Many fans have questioned Chipolopolo assistant coach Moses Sichone who was tasked with the responsibility to lead the team at the annual southern African football showpiece.
“Sichone nao has a lot to learn,” one disappointed fan posted.

As has been the case whenever Zambia suffers a loss, some people have blamed FAZ President Andrew Kamanga.

A Facebook account identified as Malumba Malumba his page to say: “KMG. Malawi?”

Another fan suggested that Zambia needs to go back to the drawing board.

“This Zambian team at the COSAFA is embarrassingly bad. Honestly, we need to go back to the drawing board. Basic things like ball control cost us the game,” another fan posted.

Malawian fans enjoyed the moment, using the opportunity to troll their neighbours.

“Neba you’re the best, scoring for us as a way of celebrating with us… #MalaMbia 🇲🇼🇿🇲🇲🇼🇿🇲,” wrote an account supposedly belonging to a
Malawian national.
