SMART Zambia Institute has signed an agreement with the Library and Information Association of Zambia (LIAZ) to prioritise digital literacy training for citizens in underserved and unserved communities.

The partnership aims to bridge the digital divide and enhance access to digital skills for all Zambians.

Acting National Coordinator of SMART Zambia, Mulomba Hameja, and LIAZ President, Mutinta Nabuyanda, signed the agreement in Lusaka on Friday.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Hameja highlighted the importance of collaboration in ensuring inclusive access to digital government services, particularly for rural communities.

“SMART Zambia will work with LIAZ to advance the digital transformation agenda and ensure that citizens in remote areas are not excluded from the digital space,” Hameja said.

Nabuyanda described the partnership as a significant milestone in Zambia’s digital transformation journey, emphasizing the importance of digital literacy in the modern era.

“This collaboration will drive digital literacy nationwide. Those who fail to embrace digital transformation risk being left behind,” she said.

The initiative is expected to play a crucial role in advancing Zambia’s goal of achieving equitable access to digital opportunities for all.
