Police have arrested a sixth suspect in connection with the murder of George Kalaba, whose skeletal remains were discovered two years after his death at his home in Lusaka’s Luangwa-Garden Compound.

The incident was reported on January 14, 2025, at 16:30 by Emmanuel Kalaba, 55, the elder brother of the deceased. George Kalaba, 51, had reportedly been dead and hidden in his home since 2023.

The initial arrests included Kalaba’s wife, Sylvia, and her four children.

The latest suspect, identified as Preteria Musela, 44, of the same compound, was reportedly the first person informed of Kalaba’s death.

According to a statement by Police Spokesperson, Rae Hamoonga, Musela physically viewed the skeletal remains on November 21, 2023, and had been praying with Sylvia and her children from 2023 until January 13, 2025, believing the deceased would resurrect.

Musela has since been detained on charges of accessory after the fact to murder.

“The Zambia Police Service reiterates its commitment to thoroughly investigating this matter and ensuring all suspects involved are brought to justice,” Hamoonga said.

Police have urged the public to provide any information that may assist the investigation by reporting to Emmasdale Police Station, Garden Police Post, or the nearest police station.
