A 35-year-old man of Solwezi in North-Western province has been picked up by police for reportedly raping his 16-year-old step daughter.
North-Western Police Chief, Dennis Moola, said the victim decided to report the matter to the police as an earlier engagement with mother never yielded any results despite her knowing about the events .
Moola said the incident happened between June 15, 2023 and August 30 this year in the Kimakolwe area.
“The victim reported that she had been raped on multiple occasions by his step father Mwapa Pelekelo and complained of having a painful headache and general body pains,” he said.

Moola said police proceeded to the scene of crime in the company of the victim where they picked up the suspect and detained him.
Brief facts were that on the said dates the suspect had multiple carnal knowledge of the victim and threatened to kill her if she ever reported the ordeal to anyone.
The victim confided in her mother who reportedly took no action and the victim was left with no option but to report the matter to the police .
