Six arrested in connection with Kafue roundabout thefts, police say

Police in Lusaka have arrested and charged six suspects with theft from a motor vehicle in connection with recent incidents at Kafue Roundabout.

Police Spokesperson, Rae Hamoonga, confirmed in a statement on Monday that the suspects were identified during an identification parade conducted on February 21, 2025, involving six victims.

The suspects, now jointly charged under Section 276 (c) of the Penal Code Act, Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia, included Joshua Ndeba of Chibolya Compound, Chrispine Peter Mulenga of Chawama Compound, Nox Kabaso of John Laing, Emmanuel Nsofwa of Misisi Compound, Charles Lungu of no fixed abode, and Noah Kalala of Misisi Compound.

Hamoonga stated that several stolen items were recovered during investigations, including a mobile phone, a digital camera, an electronic calculator, and assorted vital documents, all identified by their rightful owners.

Meanwhile, seven other suspects from the initial group of 13 were not identified during the parade but have been charged with Idle and Disorderly Conduct, contrary to Section 178 (b) of the Penal Code Act.

They included Jeremiah Chama of Linda Compound, Aron Chipuma of Kanyama Compound, Jackson Chisulo of Chaisa Compound, Joseph Misangu of Six Miles, Francis Nkonde of Chibolya Compound, Mutale Chanda of Misisi Compound, and Joseph Ngwila of Lilayi area in Lusaka.

All suspects remained in police custody and are expected to appear in court soon.

Hamoonga assured the public that routine police patrols at Kafue Roundabout would continue to prevent further criminal activities.

He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
